Dr. Day's Areas of Clinical Focus Include:
Initial Evaluation Session
During the initial evaluation, Dr. Day will gather information about your current concerns and will assess your current needs. She will also discuss issues such as confidentiality, payment, and office policies with you. You are encouraged to ask questions and share any concerns you may have about the process of therapy or Dr. Day's practice during this appointment.
At the end of the initial evaluation, Dr. Day will share her initial impressions of the information gathered during the appointment and will provide recommendations for treatment.
Please allow 60 minutes for an initial evaluation. Initial evaluations are scheduled in the morning or early afternoon as existing clients often prefer afternoon and evening appointments.
If you are seeking treatment services for your child or adolescent, it is important that both parents/primary caregivers as well the the child or adolescent attend the initial evaluation.
Please bring a copy of your insurance card, the completed Client History Form, and a method of payment to the initial evaluation. Please also bring the contact information for your child's pediatrician and other existing health providers. Finally, if your child has ever had a psychological assessment privately or through school, please bring a copy of that report.
You can find a link to the Client History Form, as well as other relevant forms, on the Forms page.
Ongoing Therapy Sessions
Individual and family therapy sessions are approximately 45-53 minutes in length. Depending upon the severity of presenting symptoms, we will agree to meet weekly or biweekly. As treatment progresses and symptoms decrease, we will decrease the frequency of our sessions.
It is possible that you will have to take your child out of school for some appointments. Initial evaluation appointments are scheduled in the morning and early afternoon hours. Ongoing appointments are scheduled during available times, sometimes these may occur during school hours. If your child needs to leave school early in order to attend therapy session, Dr. Day can provide you a written excuse for school staff.
Attendance and Cancellations
Attendance at scheduled appointments is extremely important, not only for successful treatment outcome, but also in terms of consideration of others who may have the desire to schedule appointments. Please call the office as soon as you become aware of your need to reschedule your appointment. Each appointment time is reserved only for you or your child, and for this reason 24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule an existing appointment (unless we both agree that you were unable to attend due to circumstances beyond your control). Appointments missed without proper notice are subject to a $50.00 missed appointment fee. It is important to note that insurance companies do not provide reimbursement for missed sessions.
